Justifiably the most visited monument in Spain, drawing millions of visitors a year, the Alhambra is the culmination of Islamic architecture in Spain. In a strategic position overlooking the whole city and the plains beyond, the palace fortress of the Sultan rulers of the last Moorish kingdom in Spain never fails to impress.
The complex is divided into distinct areas. In this video we visit the the main Nazrid Palaces, the true jewel of the Alhambra, with glorious Islamic decoration throughout and heavenly-inspired open courtyards. In Part 1 we visit the Alcazaba or fort - the oldest part of the complex, the Generalife gardens and Summer Palace, and Charles V's Palace.
